Here lately I’ve been on a reading frenzy trying to reach my (unannounced) goal of reading 50 new, or new to me, books. This doesn’t count rereads. If it does, I should have made the goal 100. I do so love to reread. 🙂 I would like to say that as of today, I’m one away from that goal. Go me!
[Edited to add: On Wednesday night I finished my 50th book. Thursday I started my 51st. 🙂 ]
I’m not going to write a full list of what I read this year, but I thought I would give a run down of my favorites. I keep a reading spreadsheet of the title, author, year I read it, format I read it in (print, library, Nook), and my grade. I grade A-F, including pluses and minuses. I mark any book that I couldn’t finish for whatever reason as DNF. So these books I’m listing are the ones I awarded an (very rare) A too.
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley Grade: A
Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas Grade: A
The Last Hellion by Loretta Chase Grade: A-
The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran Grade: A-

Hmm…I gave more As than I thought. More than 30%. That must be because I read so many fabulous books this year. Seriously. I’m a tough grader and I only give As to books I know I’m going to read again. Most of the other books are low Bs and Cs, so these really rise above the rest. I recommend them all.
What were the best books you read this year?

I just finished Treachery in Death! I do a very bad job of keeping track of what books I read, but I recently got into Ariana Franklin (mistress of the art of death books) and David Baldaci. Perhaps not your style, though.
I was doing a very poor job of keeping up with the books I read, so I started keeping a spreadsheet of all the books I want to read and the books I’ve read. I update it every couple of weeks or so. That way I always know what I’ve read and what I want to read so I’m never without ideas in the library or bookstore.
I just rediscovered my love for reading. But I think the best ones have been The Hunger Games and Delirium. My goal for next year is to read at least 50 books. I keep track of them through my goodreads.com TBR list , but I need to get them on paper. It would be easier to keep with me when I go places that don’t have Internet.
I’ve heard good things about Delirium. I should put it on my TBR list.
