Food Waste Friday

in Food Waste Friday

After a lack of posts about food waste, it would make sense that this would be one of my worst weeks ever.  However, I’ve been good at keeping my fridge cleaned out and, since I haven’t been doing a lot of cooking, I haven’t had many leftovers.  My fridge is actually really bare at the moment.  Now my freezer is a different story, but that’s another post for another day.

So this is my waste for the week:

Citrus.  Two lemons and a lime.  Pretty gross isn’t it?  I’m not entirely sure what I was going to use the lemons for, but it’s obvious that I’ve had them for a while.  The hard, shriveled lime was leftover from a few weeks ago when I made fajitas for a party.  Usually, I chop up leftover lemons and limes and run them down the sink to freshen the garbage disposal, but these I just threw away.  There was no way I was handling that moldy lemon any more than necessary, and the other two were so hard I was afraid I would damage my knife.

What did you waste this week?

Not a bad week with only citrus waste. You’ve reminded me that I have some lemons to use up. I may make some lemonade.
