Food Waste Friday

in Food Waste Friday

We did really well this week.  We had a lot of leftovers, but by having a leftover night and eating leftovers for lunch, we were able to eat them all.
We did have just a little bit of waste and I was very upset about it.  It was bread waste.  I couldn’t believe we wasted bread, especially the usually delicious Garlic Pull-Apart Bread, but I let it get over risen and it had a very yeasty taste to it to start.  We at through most of it, but by Wednesday, it had been reheated twice and just didn’t taste good at all.  It wasn’t much, so I didn’t get a picture, but I hate that I wasted bread!
Would it have been okay as croutons?  I wasn’t sure since it didn’t taste very good to begin with.  Any ideas?
How did you do this week?  Any food waste?

Croutons might work, or you could use your food processor to get it into little bits, toast those and make breadcrumbs. I think if it's in a smaller form you won't taste the yeastiness as much.

I agree with the breadcrumbs idea. It might have tasted okay as a coating tossed with parsley for fish or chicken. Great job on having only that as your food waste!

I didn't even think of breadcrumbs! That could be because when we cleaned out my grandmother's pantry we found two opened, but nearly full containers of breadcrumbs. Therefore, breadcrumbs are not needed in my house!
