Food Waste Friday

in Food Waste Friday

Wait, how is it Friday already?  Didn’t I just blog about food waste?
Not that I’m not glad it’s Friday or anything.  I am glad it’s Friday; very glad in fact.  It means I get to sleep for two days without the alarm clock scaring me half to death in the morning.
But it just seems like the weeks are going by strangely fast.  Does anyone else feel like that?
Anyway…food waste.
There are some potatoes left over from last Saturday in the fridge that I’m afraid just aren’t going to get eaten.  There are also some suspicious looking green onions that probably deserve a trip to the trash can.
Last Sunday I tried a new blueberry muffin recipe; they were decent, but not something I’d ever make again.  Actually they were sort of tasteless, but I didn’t want to be rude.  The recipe made 16 muffins and no one was really on a mission to eat them since they just didn’t taste all that great.
But I’ve been bravely eating two every morning, until this morning that is.  This morning, one had mold on it and when I found one that wasn’t molding, the blueberries had gone bad.  So 6 muffins went into the trash.
I was unaware that blueberries go bad so fast.  Should I have just eaten them faster or should they have been stored in the fridge?  The freezer?
