I’m sure I’m not the only person with a thousand recipes from cookbooks waiting in the wings to be tried. I love cookbooks and I read them I like I read books, cover-to-cover, rarely skipping anything. I keep a stash of post its handy for marking recipes I want to try. I often check cookbooks out of the library and make copies of all the awesome looking recipes that I just have to make.
And then the recipes sit there, forgotten and unmade.
Well, not any more. I’m establishing a new goal: cook one meal from a different cookbook every week. It doesn’t have to be multiple dishes, but I have to use a different cookbook (or when I run through all my cookbooks, a different recipe) every week. I’ve got so many great (and simple!) recipes earmarked and it’s time to try some of them.
Sunday: Cookbook of the week: Five-Ingredient Fix – Buttermilk pecan chicken, Cheesy penne (Verdict: delicious, will make again)
Monday: Fried tofu, bok choy and zucchini
Tuesday: Dinner and a movie with my mom
Wednesday: Hamburgers, hashbrown casserole, raspberry-almond blondies
Thursday: Corn and Potato Hash, scrambled eggs (bumped from last week)
Friday: Pasta in tomato-basil cream sauce
Lunches are leftovers and egg salad sandwiches. Breakfasts are toast and jam or lovely packaged foods from the freezer that I got for dirt cheap because every once and a while I’m a shopping goddess.
What’s on your menu this week?
