Menu Plan Monday

in Menu Plan Monday

I had really great intentions for this weekend involving getting my house ready for a bachelorette party next weekend, baking, and getting ahead on some blogging.  Instead, I spent most of the weekend on the couch clearing up space on my DVR and discovering (and becoming addicted to) Friday Night Lights.

Frankly, I’m much happier with what did happen than I would have been had I accomplished all that I had planning on doing. 😉

But, in trying to stick with my February goals of getting back on track with life, I did manage to make a menu plan and make to the store.  I even took a break from the Dillon Panthers to make some truly delicious soup.

Sunday: Tomato-basil parmesan soup

Monday: Quinoa with sun-dried tomatoes and basil, steamed broccoli

Tuesday: Leftovers

Wednesday: Balsamic chicken and mushrooms, roasted broccoli

Thursday: Honey-ginger tilapia, fried rice

Friday: Leftovers

Saturday: Bachelorette party!

How was your weekend?  Did you watch the Super Bowl?  Clearly I didn’t, but I did watch Madonna…I’m not sure what I thought of that.  Your thoughts?

I watched about 10 minutes of the Super Bowl and decided to start reading a book…The Wilder Life: My Adventures in the Lost World of Little House on the Prairie by Wendy McClure . I loved the Little House books and when I read a glowing review of this book I could hardly wait to get it from my library. For me, I can sum it up in one word…disappointment. The author seemed to be disappointed with every visit to a place in Laura’s life, every thing she learned that didn’t jive with the Little House stories, and well….disappointed with everything. I too was disappointed … with the entire book. I WANTED to like it, I forced myself to keep reading because, after all, it had a glowing review and was suppose to be funny…..I guess those parts were in the bits I just skimmed over before I gave up all together about 3/4 of the way through the book. I am glad I borrowed it from the library because I would have been more than disappointed had I spent money for this book. Now The Weird Sisters … I LOVED that book! I am so glad you seem to be liking it so far as well. I can hardly wait to read the author’s next book. Have a great day! I enjoy reading your blog.

Carol, I totally agree with you about The Wilder Life. I was really looking forward to it because I adored the Little House books as a kid and thought this book would be a great place to reconnect to them. I was very disappointed in the book as a whole; I thought the beginning was terrific, but it went downhill very fast for me.

Glad you enjoyed The Weird Sisters. Look for my review in the next couple of days. I’ve got about 3 chapters left.

1. I watched the super bowl. But by watched I mean blogged during the game and watched the commercials.
2. I LOVED the madonna performance.

🙂
