I did it y’all!  I made it through all 6 weeks of this project.  It wasn’t nearly as hard as I expected it to be which is probably a mark of just how much food I had.  Before we get on with pictures and a little boasting (;)), let’s recap last week and what all I used up.

The only thing I didn’t eat was the last of the spaghetti and meatballs (big surprise).  I realized, a little too late, that I would have to make sauce and most of everything was frozen.  So I went out to dinner with The Carpenter (I had a coupon) and bought a Blu-Ray player.

This was the first week in the whole project that has been difficult.  I really had to stretch to make some meals.  I didn’t go to bible study on Tuesday, and since I didn’t have anything thawed out, I had to scrounge up dinner.  I ended up with a cheddar cheese quesadilla and some apples with caramel dip.  Healthy?  Not really, but I got (sort of) creative and made do with what I had instead of getting takeout.  Friday’s lunch ended up being made with the 1 1/2 pieces of ham and 1 slice of swiss cheese I had wrapped up in the last tortilla.

So last week I used up or made a dent in:

  • slider rolls
  • frozen corn
  • arugula
  • pine nuts
  • cheese
  • tortillas
  • lunch meat
  • chicken
  • green beans
  • box of cous cous
  • frozen hashbrowns
  • fresh ginger
  • frozen vegetables
  • a slew of leftovers

Okay! Now you now how did, but now you need see what I accomplished.  You remember this mess…

…well look what it looks like now!

I did some cleaning out, tossing expired items (oops), and rearranging so that things would stop falling on me.

Here are some shots of my cleaned out freezer and refrigerator.  My freezer was full almost to the top so this is incredibly impressive. 🙂

That’s the end of Operation: Eat All the Food!  What are your thoughts?  Did I inspire anyone to take on their own clean out project?

You really cleared out a lot! My pantry is so packed right now that I should really do something like this and soon.

You should! I feel like I’ve lifted a huge burden off my shoulders as weird as that sounds. Now I have the freedom to buy what I want and cook what I want without feeling guilty for not eating what I have.

Your fridge and freezer look great! My mom and I made up a bunch of freezer meals so other than milk I really shouldn’t have to do a big shop for a while.

I wish I was a freezer cook. It’s up there with using the crock-pot more, but I guess I’m just not a prep-in-advance kind of girl.
