Review: God’s Heart for You (Blessings Unlimited)

in books, reviews

I am always on the hunt for a new devotional book.  I’ve done many through the years, both successfully and unsuccessfully.  I like specific things in my devotions – scripture, prayer, a short story – and I was very pleased to find them in Holley Gerth‘s book, God’s Heart for You.

The book is small and each devotion is short, just three or four pages each.  Each chapter centers around the message “In God’s Heart I am ____” and there are 40 different messages.  40 different ways that God loves me, 40 different ways that God loves YOU.

In God’s Heart I am forgiven.  Understood.  Accepted.  Called.

Each devotion begins with a bit of scripture, then a short story.  At the end, there is a place for a reflection, which has some great ideas for writing something if that is how you like to spend your quite time.  There is also a small little prayer, and then, my favorite part, Holley has written short poems that go along with the day’s message.  The poems are so great; and I really connected with them.  Sometimes, even in short, and mostly light-hearted devotionals like this one, I have trouble connecting and applying them to my life.  Holley’s poem’s really helped me do that, and it’s definitely my favorite part of the book.

Aren’t these bookmarks beautiful? They’re magnets as well!

I’m so glad that Dayspring has created Blessings Unlimited, a cute home decor and gift company.  It’s also a company (like Mary Kay) that you buy through a consultant rather than just online.  You can have one of those fun parties, get some free stuff, and have some great fellowship time with your friends!  If you are interested in having a party or buying the book (or any number of other great items!), click here to find a consultant near you.

Disclosure: I received the book and bookmarks from in(courage) in exchange for my review.  I was not compensated in any other way.  All opinions are my own and do not reflect Dayspring or in(courage).

Your book sounds sweet!
Like you, I happen to be reading a religious book at the moment. Not an area I’d go either!
Anyways I’m reading “This is Our Church” by Michael Pennock. Since it’s a textbook for someone taking a class pertaining to Catholicism, it has a devotional excercise, scripture connection, and other activities at the end of each chapter.

By the way I’ve been reading your blog for some time now and enjoy it!
