Thanksgiving Round Up

in holidays, links ahoy, recipes

Um, am I the only person who looked at the calendar and freaked out because Thanksgiving is next week? NEXT. WEEK. How did that happen? Didn’t November just begin?

For those of us who forgot it’s November or those of us who need a little help figuring out what’s going on the table this year, I’m here to help.  Below are links to some of my family’s favorite holiday dishes – you know the ones that HAVE to appear on the table or someone (probably me) is going to flip out – as well as a few things I’ve found on the internets (or you know, Pinterest).

To kick off your day right, might I suggest these lovely Thanksgiving muffins?

Full of pumpkin, whole grains, cranberries, and cinnamon

I know some of you aren’t huge fans of turkey and prefer to not serve it.  If you want to keep the classic Thanksgiving feel of roasting a bird, you could always roast a chicken.

“Perfect” Roasted Chicken

Sides are really the star of this holiday, in my opinion.  I love these particular dishes so much that it’s probably dangerous to put them next to me at the table.

In case you aren’t a fan of green bean casserole or are looking for something a little healthier, try these roasted brussels sprouts.  It’s an Ina recipe so you know they’re good.

Stir in some balsamic vinegar before roasting. Trust me.

You need bread of course.  These will do, but you better triple the recipe.  They go fast. 🙂

Need something warm to sip on after the big meal?  My friend Ashley recommends this cider.

And last, but certainly not least, dessert.  Are you a pie family?  A cake family?  A too-full-to-eat-dessert family?  I’m not a huge fan of pie, so I like make this pumpkin cobbler.

A few years ago, my roommate Lydia made these super cute mini pies for a school Thanksgiving potluck and they were a huge hit.

Looking for ways to decorate your table this year?  Here are a few things I saw on Pinterest I liked.

What dishes are you looking forward to this year?  Have any links to recipe or decorating ideas you want to share?

Thanksgiving next week?! My guy friend said the same thing. 😀

My favorite dishes are ham, kielbasa, and kugle (misspell). My aunts buy the kielbasa from a speciality store that does Baltic region foods.
