Weekend Reading

in books, currently reading

I’m in the middle of the great Harry Potter reread of 2011.  The goal is to have them all reread (for I don’t know the 20th time or something like that) by the release of Deathly Hallows Part 2 on July 15.  I’ve only just started Order of the Phoenix (my least favorite), but I’m fairly certain I can do it.

This is very bittersweet because it will the last time I do a full reread in preparation for a movie release.  I’ve done it for every movie and I’ve gone to every midnight release since Goblet of Fire.  Harry Potter has been such a big part of my life for so long (over 10 years!) so I’m quite sad at the thought of the series truly being complete.

Is anyone else doing a reread before the movie comes out?

I re-read The Order of the Phoenix before the movie—never again! I was so disappointed with the movie after that because I knew exactly what had been cut out/ changed. I knew it would have to be greatly condensed since it’s such a long book, but harrumph.

I’m going to re-read after the final film. Then I’ll be able to sleep at night 🙂

I do hate that when you reread the books you pick up all the little things they left out, but I’ve read the books so many times that I’ll do that anyway. 🙂 So I might as well enjoy a good reread.

I don’t re-read the books before the movies, but I’ve probably read them all about 3857373 times! I think The Goblet of Fire is my least favorite, but it’s hard to choose. I really want to re-read them all, maybe this winter.

Goblet of Fire is your least favorite book or movie? Prisoner of Azkaban is my least favorite movie, but one of my favorite books.

I think I’ll re-read the last one before the movie comes out. I can’t wait. I actually took that Friday off. It’s my birthday on Monday, so it’s not just because it’s HP day and I want to go see it (not the midnight showing, but probably afternoon on Friday), but it’s definitely more HP than birthday.

That Friday is one of my good friend’s birthdays so going to the midnight release is a great way to celebrate. I wish I could take that day off. I’m sure I’ll just be going in to work a little late. 🙂

I’m a late comer…
Besides the books, I also have the soundtracks for the all movies out so far. (Do the series companion books count too?)
