It’s been a while since I’ve done a Weekly Wanderings post so some of these are from a few weeks back.
5 Steps to Forgiving Yourself - A good read for someone like me, who struggles with letting go of the imperfections and not allowing little mistakes to overshadow successes.
Avoid Perfect Paralysis – This whole series on achieving a goal in a month is really good, but I found this post particularly relevant to me. I tend to say “well that’s ruined so why bother keeping it up?” or “I can’t do that exactly right at the moment, so I’ll do it later”. Obviously this is bad. Goes along well with the post above.
Oscar Watch: What’s Up With All the Violence? - when I saw this link on Twitter I immediately clicked on it because I feel the same. Why are so many “good” movies this year so violent? I’ve heard Zero Dark Thirty has a lot of torture in it and Django Unchained, while fabulous, had so much human abuse in it that I buried my head in The Carpenter’s lap and cried. I have no problems with violence and gore, yet this movie was SO violent that it made me cry. I also made The Carpenter turn off Savages because (besides being pretty terrible) the intensity of the violence and potential violence was way over the top. So I ask, what’s up with that?
