Some articles to make you think…
Warner Video Restricting DVD Sales to Libraries – I’m not a public librarian nor do I do any video ordering, but I still think this is a very important issue. Obviously, the movie industry is catching onto the fact that tough times mean less sales and less rentals. People are turning to libraries to rent new releases because it’s free and free is very good right now. Ergo, the industry wants to stop libraries from helping people get free things. Because free is bad. Basically, I think Warner Bros is ridiculous. What do you think?
Less Heat Challenge 2011-2012 – As always, The Non-Consumer Advocate is running the no-heat (this year less heat) challenge. I will be participating again this year. Expect a full post on it tomorrow! Any one else planning on turning down their thermostats and snuggling under some blankets?
Day 20: Government – This post is part of Amy of Feathered Friendsy 31 Days of Contentment series. I think this is a very good reminder that are very lucky no matter how much we all complain.
…and some food to make you hungry.
Roast Chicken Thighs with Potatoes, Artichokes, and Lemon
Honey Oat Bread
(made this on Wednesday – it’s so good!)
Homemade Zebra Cakes
(okay, I will probably never make these, but how cute are they?!)
What did you find this week? Anything awesome?

Thanks for featuring me! I’m totally making those zebra cakes btw. Too cute!!!
You’re welcome. 🙂 I’m loving your series. Send me a picture if you make the cakes!
I love the zebra cakes, but like you I probably won’t make them. But, the Honey Oat Bread is looking tempting to me! I host a Must Try Mondays and a Pinterest Favorites Wednesdays if you ever want to link up.
The honey oat bread was delicious. It makes for great toast in the mornings.
That first link irked me. A library has always been a source of “free” media for residents. My taxes as an Evanston resident help pay for the Evanston Library. I’m ok with that. It’s a wonderful resource for the community. But when I have to start paying for those items in addition to the tax? It makes it no different than say a used DVD/Book store. Except this time I have to give it back rather than buy it. RedBox is even raising its rates and my heart weeps a bit inside for that too. All great reasons why I just don’t pay attention to movies/tv much anymore!
Roast Chicken Thighs with Potatoes, Artichokes, and Lemon looks so tasty! The Zebra Cakes look fun too, although like you, I likely won’t make them. 🙂
The honey oat bread looks amazing. I’m a sucker for breads, though.
We keep our temp down low during the winter – an extra excuse to snuggle under blankets.
