My tomato plants are looking a little puny don’t you think? Plus, my cucumber, squash, zucchini, and eggplant plants are all dead. The only plants still producing are my rosemary, cherry tomatoes, and basil. My basil wasn’t doing well this summer since it wasn’t as hot and sunny as basil likes.
But now my basil has exploded! It’s doubled in size in the last month and I can’t keep up with it’s production.
I think this weekend I’m going to pull up everything but the cherry tomato plant, basil, and rosemary. My cherry tomato plant is so huge that’s it’s keeping the other plants from getting sun, but I’ll leave all the steaks and cages up so it has something to cling too. Last year I was still getting Roma tomatoes (albeit green ones) into November. I’m interested to see how long I can keep this plant alive.
I’m going to pull up all the flowers too, and put in some fall flowers. I’m thinking mums and pansies. They generally do well here, even in colder temperatures.
